Jor Sutton

Jor Sutton grew up hearing bands rehearse regularly and started playing the drum set and taking lessons at age five. Three years later his family moved to Austin Texas, where he absorbed the thriving music scene. During his time in the Jazz Studies program at UNCA, he focused on vibraphone, drum set, symphonic percussion, and teaching drum lessons. Soon after completing his degree, his daughter was born. Jor continued teaching drums from his home studio, taught dog obedience classes, and began teaching in the Basic Skills program at A.B. Tech. Jor’s music teaching philosophy is centered on helping students improve with an emphasis on successes, and desired outcomes. Jor plays the drum set and vibraphone in various projects in and around Asheville.
